Our food pantry is paused until further notice

Our food pantry is paused until further notice. This is a hard post to write. I did a FB live yesterday 7/21 but wanted to share this written post. Unfortunately, I had to send an email to 43 people letting them know their food pantry appointment for today has been canceled.
Not because they did anything wrong.
Not because they missed an appointment.
But because our shelves are empty.
That reality weighs heavily on me.
I can go home and make dinner tonight. But for the 43 people who were counting on coming in for their appointment today to pick out food for their dinner… I had to tell them we simply don’t have enough food to help them.
When we opened The Angels’ Food Connection, we wanted to do something different. Instead of handing out a pre-packed bag, we created a self-service pantry where families can shop with dignity and choose the foods their families will actually eat.
The response has been incredible, but the need has become overwhelming.
Our donations go right back into our community.
Whether someone donates a can of food, a case of toiletries, pet food, or makes a monetary donation, those gifts are used to restock our shelves.
The challenge is that they are going out just as fast, and often faster, than they are coming in.
The need has simply outgrown our current supply.
The average household leaves our pantry with about 9 bags of groceries, plus toiletries and pet food if needed. Most of the families we serve have children, and many have teenagers. For many households, that food lasts only about a week.
We don’t want to reduce what families receive.
We don’t want to close our pantry.
And we certainly don’t want to cancel appointments.
But I had no choice.
💜 If you’ve ever thought about helping, this is the time.
* Donate food or toiletries.
* Run a food drive at your business, church, school, or organization.
* Purchase an item from our Wish List.
* Make a monetary donation so we can restock our shelves.
* Or simply share this post.
Every donation, whether it’s one box of pasta, a case of canned goods, or a financial gift, it helps us say “yes” to another family instead of “we’re sorry.”
Together, we can fill these shelves again. 💜
or DROP OFF TO Angels Community Outreach
