Every child deserves a NEW pair of SNEAKERS
Will you please share the heck out of this. I know this is long, but please take a moment to read. Will YOU be a SNEAKER SPONSOR? Shoes are one of the most visible signs of poverty. For a child in need, the simple gift of new sneakers can give a child/teen such self-esteem. We have a few hundred kids/teens we are trying to help return to school with a new pair of sneakers.
When I was in 4th grade I remember my classmate Larry M. coming to school with a new pair of blue sneakers with bright yellow accents (adidas marathon 80 trainers). Everyone liked them. But I was in LOVE with them. Now don’t laugh… but I just knew in my head that those sneakers made him run fast! I needed a pair! I ran home to tell my mom all about these absolutely fabulous “make you run fast” sneakers. The wonderful mother she was, probably did without, took me out to get the sneakers. I still vividly remember going the JcPennys to pick them out. There they were! In my head a bright light was shining down on them. I was super excited to get fitted for the sneakers and even more ecstatic when they were placed on my foot. I slowly walked with them on my feet till I got to the aisle. Yep all clear…. I ran as fast as I could up and down that aisle! FASTEST SNEAKER EVER! My smile was huge! I was so excited to go to school the next morning, sporting my new Blue FAST Sneakers! All my classmates ooh’ed and ahh’ed over my shoes. I felt so awesome! And to this day I still remember how I felt. I AM ON A MISSION! I want children in need to feel AWESOME and CONFIDENT when they walk into the classroom the first day of school.
How many pairs of shoes do you own? How many shoes are lined up in your closet? You get up each morning and you choose what pair of sneakers/shoes to place on your feet for the day. It is something we all take for granted. I am ashamed to tell you how many pairs of shoes are in my closet. Children/teens right in our area do not have the luxury of owning several pairs of shoes. Many own only one pair and often that pair is worn and does not fit properly. I am on a mission to make sure that every child/teen that attends our Back-to-School Event gets to pick out a pair of new sneakers. These children/teens want to be just like their peers but often suffer ridicule over a pair of shoes.
YOU can help me make a difference for a child in need.
We do not want to give out just any shoes to the children/teens, we want them to have to opportunity to choose a pair of shoes just like their peers. We are looking for brand name shoes, especially for the teens, such as Nike, Under Armor, Converse, Vans etc.
